In the San Gabriel Mountains, justĀ a little further down the road is the less populated but also spectacular Cucamonga Peak. This route is also dangerous in winter time, but if you’re prepared, it’s worth the trip!
It’s less crowded but there is also a lot more exposure. The wind speed and wind chill are enough to really hurt. It’s also got some spots that are sketchy as well as a few fatalities on it’s record.
If you summit in winter time, at the very least you’ll need gloves, face mask, and traction devices for your shoes.
Enjoy!
