Convict Lake is located along Highway 395 just south of Mammoth Lakes and Lee Vining.
Convict Lake has a resort, campsites, boat rental and a venue for weddings.
At any time of year, it is worth a stop even if just to admire the beauty of it all.
If you arrive in October, you’ll capture fall colors along the mountain blue water. Most seasons out of the year, you can rent a boat and enjoy a cruise along the lake. Although the lake itself isn’t very large, the boat ride is well worth it!
There is also fishing and a hiking trail nearby.
Even if you happen to be driving by at night on your way to Mammoth or Yosemite, stop by for a quick moment to see the lake under the moonlight.
Notes: it gets crowded!
